well in general if i think someone is being a bit of an ass, i respond in kind, was he being an ass? i think so, but sometimes trying to get context out of a few words isnt always possible. I stand by my pissy response to his reply, maybe he didnt mean to be . i'm not above an apology if its warranted.

I am not looking for an apology. The remark was made because I am not used to a combative approach for information. Generally when one asks for a favour, it isn't followed up with a pissy response if the respondent is seeking more info. Different strokes for different folks I guess.
