Saur 100 XT

So I have been reading a lot of reviews about this rifle and they seem to be highly regarded. I was wondering if anyone here has some first hand experience or has encountered any issues. From what I read they are at the lower end but appear to be better built than most for the price point.

I have one in 7 mm Rem Mag. (Wood)
Nice smooth action.
Mine is accurate with Fed blue box. 3 shot in 3/4” at 100 yard if my memory is good.
A bit longer LOP that is annoying when wearing full fall clothing. IMO
No problems with it. I just need to shoot it more.

I have one of the fieldshoots in 6.5cm, not hunting type, but the fit and finish is solid, pretty basic design with some corners cut for sure, quite accurate, bedding though I find kind of iffy, not much contact between action and stock compared to other designs, long LOP as mentioned, trigger is decent but plastic, receiver lug is a separate piece press fit into the action, not machined.
For comparison to other commonly available rifles we can get here, the 100xt hunting version it's about on par with the Browning AB3, which is their entry level rifle... actually maybe a bit below IMHO.
At the blow out prices under $800, they are more in line and appealing. Regular prices were way too high for what they are.

The trigger lever is actually plastic.

I had one 6.5 Creedmoor. I also had a 700 SPS in 6.5 Creedmoor that would out shoot the 100XT. Not a bad rifle but nothing outstanding. I came away with the opinion that if one wanted a plastic stocked rifle in a one action size fits all with a plastic detachable mag just get a Tikka.

Bought a Sauer 100 classic xt in 6.5x55. Has a plastic stock. Barrel is threaded. Never shot it because Sauer had a major recall on the 6.5’s because of a faulty barrel. Contacted Sauer de and was put forward to Sauer USA. They told me I have two choices: trade the gun for the exact same calibre or trade for what is in stock. I want a 6.5. They tell me they don’t know when Germany will be producing 6.5’s. I’ve been waiting over six months now. Talked to Calgary shooting centre. They said they can special order the 6.5 but it could take a year.

As far as I know, this was only a problem with the 6.5x55.

On the upside, bolt is slick as hell, magazine holds five rounds, scope bases can be Remington 700 bases. I use Warner. And it comes with a moa guaranteed.

As I said, the 100 xt has a barrel that is threaded on. The 101,s and higher have the barrels that are heated and fit into place. These guns have sub moa accuracy guarantee and climb in price.

They are nice rifles but in my experience accuracy is hit and miss. I first bought a 100 xt classic in 6.5x55 and was quite happy with it no problem shooting 1 moa or less. Decided to try one in 7mm Rem. Well this one was minute or barn door, tried many different loads and bullet weights, would not group worth a hill of beans. Sent it back for warranty and it was replaced with another one. The second one was a little better but still not great, don’t think I would buy another one.

Turns out I am in the exact same boat! Only, I didn't know and I shot a box of ammo through it.

Its an accurate sumbee! Heck of a smooth feeding, smooth operating rifle. Great trigger. It reminds me of a Ruger American but done to a very high standard. Call it a "Sauer German". But yeah, its under the recall, so trade in for a new one it shall be.
