Sausage Deer Down,...now 2 Sausage bucks down(pics added)!!!

Well, there is trolling, and then there is "chumming the waters".

Can you get reprimanded for "chumming"?

You guys are funny. BTW Chuck, I like the 'cord-wood' pictures from your mule deer hunt.

A fellow I knew once had the CO knocking on his door because the photo place called them when they saw his vacation photos. He had been down to the US and were culling antelope does and fawns on one of the reserves and had a pick up full.

Damn it, now I am "hijacking". I think I should give myself a time out.

OK now, back on track...

I was just driving home from Dawson Creek and flattened a large doe that was doing about 40 clicks when it crossed me...
Silver Honda looks like a coors light can squashed...

Not sure how this gets fixed, as the insurance is SGI in Sask,.. I suppose they'll send me to garage here..

Anyhow...

I didn't start the thread to be controversial, but it seems I can't help it...

I have no issue with guys taking pics of their deer with the tongue hanging out, or of it being butchered,... for me, that's the reality of their hunt,...my hunts too.

I don't ##### about the headshots, the longshots, the running shots etc.
If you can do it,.. I'll load the gun for ya...

My hunts aren't advertisments, they aren't posed, and there's no rehearsal or photoshop...if I'm covered in blood and a beer in my hand and wearing a plaid shirt form Zellers,..I could care less...
Just the same, if it's a shot of me with my 8mm rem mag, with a Schmidt on top and my best pressed River's West,.. well, that's what I had that day...

I find it that some people want to belittle some of the guys. Guys that I consider to be the salt of the earth.

I'm the type who puts the price tag in my pocket, other's like to let it dangle for others to see. Now that might be annoying, but what is just plain small, is to take it a step further and try to equate that price tag to superiority or character.

Ooops,... did I say back on track...

Oh yes...

Well what a time we had getting him up on the meat hooks..
The garage has 8 hooks and we actually have had 8 quarters hanging on them,.. once with two Elk,...another time with one elk and a moose and most recently with two Buffalo..

we hooked him to the winch and cranked him up and then we started in..
That was when I had my first good looks at the bullet holes.
There also seemed to be a quite a bit of fat on him, yet his neck was as buldged as baloon,.. (which has been a bit contradictory to most other bucks I have taken)

Jody hasn't filled his tag yet, though he did get a damn nice Mulie..
Sometimes it's just luck, sometimes a combination of things,...no doubt for me, I was in the right spot at the right time,... (I assure you it had nothing to do with our calling ability:D)

if anyone is looking for a good Mulie buck in 357 drop me a line, ..

ANOTHER BUCK is Hanging

Last night I had every intention of getting out for coyotes this morning,...then at 9pm the phone rings..." We goin' out in the mornin?" says my buddy.
Well how could I say no :D

We spent a good two hours in our "special" area no action.

Then we heard a noise. Yup, it was a buck following a doe about 30 yrds in the trees, but he did not present a shot...:( we watched him as he passed by with half second glances) an attempt to get a better view spooked them off..

A atd let down, we moved on a little ways, and right there, out in the open,..ONE LONE BUCK!!!

We put the sneak on and got to a frozen water area.. we got on the ice and began walking closer (we were pretty well silent as we walked on the ice)

At 80 yrds, we said close enough.

We watched him a bit,..and then the 300 WSM was shouldered,...

BOOM !!!

DOA...

We went and checked him out, had a handshake and then quickly got him gutted...

Another nice buck is hanging...

Tomorrow morning,... hopefully another buck,...we'll see. Right now it looks more like a coyote day,...but that's what I said about today too..:D

It sure is great to be getting back out at it...!

If posting pictures of crappy gear and stories of offhand head shots at 194 yds with see through mounts on lever action rifles is your strategy to discredit my pictures. Good work.

I don't understand this comment, I don't see any crappy gear in those pics? I see a lever action that I'd love to own, a pretty nice quad....the scope was plenty good enough to do the shot.....

Is this a case of hunter elitism?

Either way, it's these sort of things that sets the memories for each hunting season I guess ( I've yet to go hunting....).

Just curious, how long do you hang your meat? I've heard everything from a day to weeks....is it just a personal preference sort of thing?
