3) bipod

Ill be hand loading rounds with the following specs

Also thinking about bedding the action

Any suggestions and advise on modifications for accuracy would be appreciated since i'm a new to long range shooting!

The Sightron SIII are great scopes for the money.

Jerry

Thanks for the link, i have been looking at Leupold or Nightforce scopes, altho most of them are out of my price range unless they are used, so if anyone is looking to get rid of theirs at a decent price let me know,

Leupold is very attractive since the repair shop is 30km away in case anything ever happens!

1) does anyone have any experience with bedding the action and installing a muzzle break on this kind of rifle, is it worth the money?

2)also is it worth doing yourself as the diy kits sell for about $25 compared to the 150 you will pay a gunsmith to do it for you?

Definitely bed the rifle (either yourself or get somebody to do it).

If you're at all on a budget, skip the cost of the muzzle brake. The money is much better spent on other things first (good loading gear, more ammo, more trips to the range, etc). Also the brake will prevent you from firing in certain circumstances (e.g. F-Class matches)

You can reduce your recoil by adding weight to your rifle. One very good way to add weight is to install a longer heavier barrel. Another way is to put old lead bullets inside a hollow buttstock.

I own this exact rifle. I think putting a brake on it would be a waste of money. It is heavy enough that you really don't notice the recoil. As far as bedding goes I would wait on that to. Not to say you should not custom bed this rifle but it does have an aluminum bedding block as standard equipment and is stupid accurate out of the box. Bundle up all your cash and buy a nice scope. Personally I would go with the bushnell elite 6500 tactical 4.5-30 if I could do it again. I have a elite 3200 tactical on mine.

I have this exact rifle as well.

A brake is a WOFTAM (waste of f'n time and money) in my opinion. All it's going to do is act as a "loudener" and add weight.

Bedding is a must to squeeze out the maximum accuracy from your rifle, and the optics question can be as simple or complicated as you like.

Mine wears a Leupold Mark 4 LR/T 4.5-15x50AO with a MilDot reticle. This wasn't the cheapest scope, but it cost less than a front-focal model from Leupold or Nightforce. I love it. L-O-V-E love it.

With your budget, I agree with the suggestion of a Bushnell Elite series model. Prior to this rifle, I had a Tikka T3 Lite in .300 WSM which wore a Bushnell Elite 3200 5-15x40AO. Fine scope on the bench or hunting, and it shot many good groups and took many deer and coyotes.

I don't think you can go wrong either way, but I will say this - going from that Bushnell to a Leupold Mark 4 blew my mind. The clarity at extended ranges... well, I think the Leupold was worth the $1500+ I paid for it. If you can find it in your budget, I don't think you'd regret going Leupy.

Jerry gave you a smoking deal that you could not pass up didn't he.

Happy shooting. Be sure to post a range report.

Yah that scope is hard to beat for the price he is asking! once i have it mounted i will post a range report and some pictures! only concern is that the rings are too low now for the 50mm lens... but worst case ill just sell them and buy some new ones!

You might be OK on top of the pic rail. If not I am sure someone will snap them up on the EE fairly quickly.
