Savage 10-FCPK .308 ( MDT LSS Chassis system build )

I shot my doe with my new Remington 700 sps in .308 this year. I hid in the ditch and for once wasn't concerned how far away the deer was standing before I shot. Nice to have the confidence to reach out and touch something. I shot mine from just over 200 yards across my farm field.

This is my 1st deer ever... But I havent eaten any beef since... lol... Im almost out of deer... I should of filled both my tags .. To bad the weather was shi!...

Well guys I tried a 500 meter shoot today... All I can say is the Target is intact...

This long Range stuff is harder then I thought... Will go again Saterday with more ammo... I will also have to re-zero my riffle at 100M ... I played so much with the turrets I lost track..

I had a few shots throw up snow at the base of the target... But the wind was a real b!tch today...

Dude, you're shooting at an inukshuk. That's gotta bring some bad karma.;)

I have a savage 10fp in .308 I want to stretch the legs on too, I'll wait 'til the weather warms up a bit. Keep us posted when you start smacking steel.

Since you can walk out to your target, hang some flagging tape on tall branch every 100yds or so. that will certainly help with the wind.

Nice spot.

You do know that the odds of hitting that plate with those SKS is slim

But with enough ammo... :)

This is one of those threads you devour and then it's over all too soon. :(

Nice Savage, I have a 10FP in an ultimate sniper stock with a Falcon Menace and I'm still jealous. Aren't guns funny that way?

Thanks for the nice thread.

Just a hint but if you have room in the car get a sheet of 1/8" panelling and cut it into three equal parts. Duct Tape the three parts back together so it will fold into a small package that fits in a trunk. Bring that with next time and you will be able to see when you are hitting anywhere close to your target. Think of it as a huge backing to the steel target that will show any misses within 4' of the target;) Great to have when you are just starting!

Never thought of that... thats a great tip...

Next time I go out I will set up a target Half way as well... and use marking tape as flags...

Cant wait for winter to be over... I dont think I will be able to get up there after the next snowfall...

I will hit that plate if its the last thing I do.... lol...

Atleast your honest :p Most guys on here would come back claiming 1" groups at that range with federal blue box ammo and a tasco scope

I learned pretty fast to not leave targets out in the great outdoors. Because some not so great person comes along and rips it off. I have hid targets under stuff, so I didn't have to carry it back to the truck. So it wasn't visable.
So do you know the bullet speed in feet per second? Bullet weight? Bullet brand? Then go here and enter the rest of the info and print off a sheet. http://www.jbmballistics.com/cgi-bin/jbmtraj_simp-5.1.cgi
Fun times. Just under 5000 308 rounds downrange. I shoot a bit.

I wish i had a huge boulder backstop like that to shoot up!! Once you're on the rocks, hopefully you'll be able to see the dust coming off it when you hit.
Once you find your zero again, you should only have to come up about 8-9MOA and you'll be there. Sorry to ruin the fun in hitting the gong if it works for ya. Hopefully you have room to move back. LOL
