Savage 10 HS Precision and Hawke Sidewinder good used gun/scope combo?

I mostly spend my time over in shotguns and bpcr but looking to get a scoped rifle for target use out to 700 or so. Found a Savage 10 HS Precision in 308 at the local cabelas used with a hawke sidewinder scope with the sidewheel and sunshade. Advertised at $1550. Gun is in very good cond as is the scope, 6-24x50.

Anyone have any experience with the scope? I know the rifle is pretty good but not sure on the scope.

My thoughts as well. Familiar with the rifle but not the brand of scope. Cabelas claims it is a mid-priced scope, and my research agrees with this as well. Mostly worried about the scope! ;)
 
To start I do not have a 6-24 sidewinder but I do have some experience with the brand. Hawke is well established in the airgun community. The sidewinder is a popular field target scope with the side ao and wheel for range finding. Not the best but certainly not the worst. A good all rounder. Great reticle. Perhaps a bit dark at max mag. I've read about some parallax error but I have not experienced this. I think the general consensuses is the sidewinder is a good value.

Thanks for the information, this lines up with some of the reviews I have seen. And thanks also to Mister Donut for the links to more reviews. A local gunshop went out of business here and I will see if I can get something from their auction. I will keep this scope in the back of my mind :)
