I am a Remington fan but have heard too much from the Savage crowd to ignore. I had to see for myself. Bought a Savage .308. The one with the HS DM stock on it. Put a scope on her and went to the range tonight with my Remmy's .308 ammo it likes, 175 gr SMK's that travel 2700 in the Remmy. Bolt was going down a bit tight so I knew I was into the lands with these a bit. Not to worry. Sighted it in with a couple of shots and bore down for a 3 shot group at 100. This is what I got. An honest .375 for 3 shots. I know everyones gonna say you should have shot 5 shots or you were lucky. I don't think so. I'm impressed with my first Savage work out.

Nice shooting and I am sure you will really enjoy this rig. Very nice triangular group. What scope were you using?

Consider the 155gr Amax/Berger as these have shot really well for many others.

I have the 700P in .308, and it shoots great, but, I watched a guy at the oshawa gun club with the savage .308 shoot a similar group to yours at 300 yards. Needless, to say, I am quite impressed with savage!

nice shooting! That was no luck. those Savages are built to shoot like that.
I like them so much, I bought the ones with the McMillan stock, the H.S stock and the VSS with the Choate stock, all in .308.
All three have a very tight chambers. 2.80-2.82.
Love the accutrigger.
 
I'll get a pic up of the gun tomorrow. It has a Leupold M4 4.5-14x50 M1 TMR. I love these scopes. I was using the hash marks for 200 and 300 yds just to see if they were on the yardages and they were dead on. My uncle shoots the 155 sierra palmas and it's a 1/2 MOA shooter. I kind of like the 175's but I'm sure I'll try the lighter ones too. I did try them in my Rem. but it didn't like them.
 
A proper bedding job would pay off in accuracy and reliability.

See if you can get some black target patches. The one inch square ones. They make real good 100 & 200 yard aiming marks. Just put the cross hairs on a corner of the patch.

Remington shooters can shoot a group at each patch on the paper.

A Savage shooter could shoot a group on each corner of the patch....
