I am brand new to the whole precision shooting thing, so I'm still getting things figured out. I have a Savage 10 Precision Carbine, and up until now, I have been using Norinco Yellow Box surplus (how bad could it really be right?). I finally got around to making a batch of ammo and what a difference!

Here is where I started at with the Norinco stuff. After this I was convinced that I must have insulted this rifle at this point and our relationship just wasn't going to work. Yes, I am aware that I am just as bad at taking pictures as I am at shooting a rifle.

Thank sweet baby Jesus that I started making my own stuff. I'm still using the Norinco brass, but with Sierra Game King 55 gr hollowpoints (that's all they had), H335 26.3gr, and Federal match primers. the first 5 shot group was .535 and I was suitably impressed.

Then I ended with a 10 shot group of 1.382 that I was also happy with. i have a lot of work to do on my technique but I think I can see a long and fulfilling relationship with this rifle in my future!

Methinks you have a 'shooter' there, my friend.
Just think what it will perform like with decent brass, as well as different bullets.
Skimming through the Precision Rifle section should bring you up to speed as to the many, excellent dealers who are on the board, and they're only a few keystrokes away for ordering some suitable fodder.
Although it should perform well with the lighter bullets....52- 55 gr., it will shine, at longer distances, with heavier bullets....68 - 80gr.
Enjoy!

100y / m?

10 shots is tough, even 5 is. 3 can't really be counted. For example I've had .2 MOA 3shots and I know thats not my skill or gun tuning.

Shows promise though! My best 5 shot group was in the .45ish I believe. Most range from .6-1.25 though.

Trying some SMK's in hopes to improve that! The testing never stops, at least for me.

Just goes to show you the value of reloading. Lots of personal satisfaction to be had making your own ammo.
