I know they are not exactly precision but just wanted some opinions from some of the rifle experts around here. I will be looking to put a trigger and barrel on it in the near future if that makes it a little more precision for you guys.
This is just a way to get started, and I am looking for advice.
I have a Savage 12 BVSS on hold at Epps and am going tomorrow morning.

Anyways the story is that I was originally looking at a Model 10 precision Carbine in .223, but found this at Epps while looking for the model 10.
I already have a .243 Marlin XS7 that is my coyote/deer rig, and a 30-30 for deer so this gun is strictly for bench shooting, and this gun seems to make more sense for that then the model 10 pc.
I was kinda hoping for the more tactical look, and plan on mounting a Bushnell Elite 3200 10 x 40 mm tactical on it, and honestly I am thinking about painting the stock black. Can always sand it clean and re-stain it later.
My range maxes out at 200 m and that is what I will be shooting at. No doubt I will upgrade later but just want to get into some bench shooting with something better than a Stevens 200.
For the price I can't seem to find anything else that gets me as excited. I really have no faith in the Remington SPS tactical, and all the cheap looking plastic savage stocks are not interesting me.
Really it is up between this and a Savage 10 Precision Carbine.
I do like the stock better on the 12 but no detachable mag is probably the only downfall.
Also are all Savage barrels and actions standard? I know there is small shank and large shank but other than that would replacing the barrel on the model 12 be just as easy as the 10?
Thoughts?
Thanks in advance
Mark
