savage 10 tr or 10 fcp sr?

The sr model is Better imo but extra mags are non existent in Canada. As far as accuracy goes both will be the same so it comes down to personal preference.

I have the older 10fcp-k model and I like it just as much as the newer ones and it shoots sub moa with hand loads all day long. But if I hand to buy over again I would go with the sr just for my preference.

The older ones are still around I believe in places, they have camo stock and metal mags and I believe the new ones coming in are black with plastic/metal mags! Correct me if I am wrong!

I'm thinking about the savage fcp-sr or the savage scout.
If their mags are 10 round capacity do they have to be limited to 5?

If the magazine is designed for bolt action only, then the round count is unlimited. If the magazine also is designed for semi auto center fire then Limited to 5 rounds.

So. I recieved my fcp sr.
Not having any luck with this gun (and its not the gun so far as Im yet to shoot it).
Anyways get the box open, no manual? Ok, fondling it for a minute, no scope rail, wtf?.
So I tear the box apart looking, nothing but a nice letter from the dealer that says ("we checked and double checked and are sure all item are in your package, if there is a problem contact the shipping company. As the *** ****** is not responible for any missing items.) So i guess can post opened my box and stole the manual and unmounted the scope rail and took that too??.

After a couple of days of being angry I order a new EGW 20 moa rail and some vortex scope rings.
open my package and only one scope ring...really?. WHEN THE PICTURE SHOWS TWO YOU SHOULD GET TWO... Ordered another. Go to mount rail and the hole closest to the barrel is f'd and f one of the screws, now need to buy a 6-48 tap (which are not common) and more mount screws

I cant win for losing on this one

I would return that to the Dealer. I don't buy for a minute that someone from canada post opened a box, saw it was a rifle, saw it had a scope rail they could use, unscrewed the rail then boxed it up and sent it on your way. Return the rifle.

The rail wasn't there because the holes were screwed up and somebody either returned it, or messed it up at the store......sounds like a return that was resold

Got a fcp-sr a few days ago and i have nothing but complaints about it.
The mag won't hold more then 8rnds (it fits 10 but they pop out)
The thing does not eject shells well
And if all goes well it won't chamber a round if I cycle too fast (the head gets caught on the reciver)
And I don't know if this was me or not but it shoots really low when bore sighted. (A good 3ft at 100yds)
Going to see if cabelas will give me a new rifle or my money back but im with out a receipt because it was a online order I highly doubt it.

It looks nice....

The one from cabelas is the newer version of the FCP-SR and I've seen lots of bad reviews about that model with the propriety savage mag. I went for the older model (brand new) which has the bottom metal with the 10 round accurate mag and she shoots true and feeds smooth. The older model also has the tan digital camo accustock. I ordered off cabelas but as soon as I saw that proprietary mag I cancelled it because you'll never be able to find extra mags. Hope it all works out for yah.

I had the older version of the fcp-sr, it wasn't particularly accurate.
A look down the barrel revealed some horrifying barrel finishing. Last savage I owned.

Kevin82,
Sorry to hear your grief!
I believe MCP most likely got it right and I would definitely send the rifle back with a harshly worded letter!
If the Vortex ring package minus one ring came from the same dealer you bought the rifle from, you should really post who the dealer is to save the rest of us going thru the same grief you are going thru..

Hell I am pissed off enough as it is just reading what you wrote, as I have been that road before in the distant past..

The receipt should be in the outer box or taped to it, they include return shipping postage and label in the box too, you have to call them first so they put it in the system as being returned!

I own two pre-accura trigger Savages I bought in the late 90's and while they shoot sub-moa I have to really keep on top of cleaning them..
They have the roughest bores of any rifles I have ever owned and I own all major N.A. brands including three brands from europe..
It doesn't make sense to me why their bores are so rough compared to all the others..
