I picked up a weaver 1pc base for my savage 10fp but the screws for the front of the reciever are too long. One of the screws when tightned interfere with the bolt and the other screw can't get tightend all the way cause it hits the threads of the barrel. I've looked around for shorter screws and can't find any. I even emailed weaver about this problem and they pretty much said its not their problem. Anybody have any suggestions?

Same problem i had on a Savage FTR , you have to shorten them so they don't come all the way through . Takes you 2 sec. with a dremel.

Ya, I found the same thing when I bought the weaver base for my savage. I thought it could be a safety issue because I was able to close the bolt, but only get the handle turned downward about half way. Somebody may be stupid enough to try to fire it like that, with the locking lugs partially engaged. I tried dry firing it and sure enough it clicked.
