i have to say these rifles look very impressive, i was just wondering who makes a good scope for this rifle, preferrably something with mildots and a rangefinding feature.

cheers

i've been reading the tasco super sniper is a good scope too online, i think i read here somewhere its only available in the US, is that true?

Well, that is a hard question. Both are great scopes, I had a 10X Super Sniper that was on a new rifle I bought but sold it, just no what I wanted. For the money, right now there is nothing better then a Bushnell 10X. They are a fantastic scope and not a problem to get and if for some reason you need service, that would not be a problem either. Right now, if it was me, I would get the Bushnell, I bought one for my dad for his LTR, it is fantastic.

is the choate stock any better than the standard stock? is their anything wrong with the standard stock? and if i decide to later use a different stock is it a big deal to get it all set up?

Of your choice in stocks, I'd go MacMillan. Checking out the aftermarket prices, the MacMillan is quite expensive, and you get a great deal on one if you get it with the gun.

I think there are also some HS precision stocks with some models - again, a very expensive add-on, you get an extremely good deal if you get one with the gun.

Oh, unless you want a .223. They don't seem to be available with the HS or MacMillan stock. If I wanted a Savage in .223, I'd get the 12 Precision Varminter with the HS prec. stock.

Bushnell Elite 3200 10X40 tactical mil-dot. Mount it with a TPS base and rings.
This is exactly my setup for now but once you get more time-in with this system, you may want to consider any of the Leupold Mark LRT's or NightForce series..

I prefer the Rail Base for a mount & there are many manufacturers outhere i.e. Farrell & others you may want to check.

Scope

I have a 2.5x10 Tasco Tactical/Varminter with Mil Dot reticle on my Savage 10FP. This rifle shoots under a 1/2 inch at 100 yards. The scope at WS in Calgary was around $80-$90. This rifle shoots as well as my Rem 700P with a Leupold 4.5x14 Tactical scope. (both in 308). I haven't tried shooting this rifle past 100 yards, with the cheaper scope things may change at the greater range. Food for thought!!!!!
