Savage 10TR le/military

Nice man, glad to see you finally got your chassis! I wish I knew about the Ruger scout mags before getting two AI ones.

Me too!

I know you have the folder, but I almost completely buggered up my butt stock threaded end when installing it into the chassis receiver. Nothing in the instructions said back the itty-bitty set-screw out of the receiver block, and of course it was set too deep. Spoke to Kyle and and you are supposed to back it out. Anyway, if I need to, he will replace the tube, but it screwed in without buggering the threads.....I checked!

Posted this in the general precision photo thread, but I think it should go here as well.
It's not quite as fancy as the stock swaps that I've seen in this thread (which I'm quite jealous of BTW), but I'm quite happy with this rifle nonetheless.

Here's my new Savage 10TR.
Seekins 30mm 6/4 low rings, Vortex PST SFP 6-24X50 scope, Harris 6-9 Bipod w/loc

Last three shots at the 200yd range (post break-in), Hornady 168g match ammo
Quite a good rifle for the cost, especially considering I'd been shooting all day and was using a bipod; I'd like to see what this thing would do on a set of sandbags.

Has anyone tried any 10 round magazines, other than the Dark Eagle Custom? I see some older replys talking about other Savage Model 10's magazines. Has anyone tried them to see if they fit?

Thanks

Did you have to assemble your butt stock on your XLR Chassis? Mine came assembled already, no adjustment required. Still haven't got the bolt release sorted out yet tho.....

Took the beast out finally, went with a couple of pals to plink at his steel target from about 275m, so sorry, no range report or target sheets this time around, but I do know that my 10TR didn't like the cheap Winchester 180 grain all that much. Anyway, here are some pics from the weekend:

I've got a Millet on there, not quite as bright and clear as the Leupy on my Cadex 700, but decent on a bright sunny day. Also, I wouldn't count on the turrets being as repeatable as the ones on the Mark 4, but then again, it was about a quarter of the price.

Here's a video of some @$$hole (me) who thinks he's the international sniper:

Be gentle, I think it's my 3rd or 4rth time ever shooting bolt action.

Nice, make sure you post pics!

Oh I will. Also gonna post a few questions with it too. This is the first firearm I have ever bought that was brand new, except for my CZ 858. Never had to break one in before. Not sure what to do, never cared about breaking in the CZ. I just shot it. This is also my first bolt action precision rifle, so I want to do this one right.

Your going to get a lot of opinions about "break in". I did no such thing for my 10tr. When I got it, I took it apart and gave it a cleaning, then proceeded to shoot the crap out of it. My #### didn't fall off and it was a great success. I managed a 0.55" 5 shot group with my first ever reloads.

Your welcome to do what you want though when it comes to break in. Your going to find the people who say it is a must and if you don't your going to ruin your barrel, and the others who like me don't buy into it.

Here's mine. It's wearing a millet 6-26x50, ATRS muzzle brake, and tac pro cheek rest.

Which model tac pro cheek rest is that?

Alright then. Another question. What height rings should I be getting for mounting to the stock rail? I have an AD recon QD mount, not sure if it will be high enough though.

Edit. Just saw above post.
