I have 2.027" to the lands on my 10tr and an over all length of 2.799. I am measuring using the Hornady OAL guage and a Sinclair bullet comparator. These measurements are with a 168gr Hornady A max.

If I switch do a heavier bullet they will have to be seated deeper would they not ?
My chamber is a little tight ? Usually the chamber is cut a little longer than 2.800" ?

Your OAL of 2.800" sounds about right for a fresh chamber. Next year you can seat a bit longer, as the throat erodes.

The OAL varies with the shape of the bullet. A heavier bullet might seat longer or shorter, depending on shape.

I measure 2.027" to the lands in my 10TR but my factory Priv Partizan 145gr .308 measures 2.037" to the ogive... This factory ammo is actually tight going into my gun you can feel resistance closing the bolt (the bullet ogive is into the lands). This chamber is definitely tight. It should be able to chamber factory rounds ? From my reading online it seems Savage doesn't always do such a great job cutting their chambers (they sometime are short and wont load factory ammo). I'm going to have to pull one of these Privi 145gr apart and use the bullet in my Hornady OAL guage and check the length of my chamber..

I plan to only reload for this gun so it isn't too big of a deal. Was working up a load the other day and managed to get a group down to 3/8" at 100 meters. This was with 39.5 gr of VV150 a 168gr Hornady A Max a Privi case and cc1 large rifle primer, loaded to .005" off the lands...
