Hello all,
found my self drawn to this rifle. I like how it has a threaded barrel for a flash hider. Also has a 20" barrel, larger bolt lever and has a medium contour barrel. I would be taking irons off for sure. May I note it will be in a .223. Has anyone got this beast? Also anyone's thoughts? Seems decently priced $550 I think. I know the stock as expected a cheap Tupperware unit but not a concern.

Thanks in advance

I like Savages of all varieties so I am happy with it, The Plastic stock works well with the general rough and tumble of the gun. Its meant to be hunted not displayed. I just wish I could put a real suppresor on it

I have a precision 10 in .223, but if the HH was available at the time, I would have grabbed it instead. I like the Hog Hunter rifles, and have suggested them to a couple of friends. Cheap buggers bought Savage Axis instead, but they're good shooters too.

I love mine in 223, I have a few scopes for it in QD rings for different situations. With my .223 load, it is constantly sub Moa,( when I do my part) I run a 10x fixed for coyotes, a 1-4x for small game and walking about and use the iron sights for plinking. Let us know how the 308 is, I think I may need to pick up one as well as the .338

Think Savage uses a standard 5/8-24 TPI, so any AR10 style muzzle device will go on. There's tons of options avail - PWS FSC30, Battlecomp BABC, Ares Effin-A, Vltor VC, JP Entp Bennie Cooley are ones off the top of my head. Really depends on whether you want a brake, compensator or hybrid style of muzzle device, as to what's readily available.

Bought it in .308, now to try and track down a muzzle break in Canada for it.

Great gun, but it needs to be chambered in 338 (or larger) - 458 Win Mag would be great. When in 223 it should be named the "Poodle Hunter".

The whole point of this model is BECAUSE IT HAS IRONS...why remove them?
