I'm looking at the above, in .308 (Savage # 19842 - synthetic stock, detach. mag., accutrigger), and I'm wondering if it's a decent rifle to start out target shooting with (100-200 yards); maybe later on, in a couple of years, build it up to do longer range shooting. Any pros/cons to this rifle? What's a good price for this model? Thanks.

I believe that the Hunter XP is $306. The International (Accutrigger) is $374. I figure that the A-trigger is worth the $68.extra, but I could be wrong. I'm concerned with the quality/reliability of the rifle. I don't care if the bluing is good or it looks like hell after a few uses, I want some thing that will be reliable and I can build off of the action if I wish to do so in the future.

Nice rifle. You can't beat the price.

You now have me looking at the Trophy Hunter Model 16 XP, (I prefer stainless). I currently have the weather warrior and it is a great rifle (it appears to be the same as the Model 16 except the weather warrior has the Accustock). I paid around $700 with the tax for the Weather Warrior.

So I called WSS earlier today and they informed me that the price on their Savage package rifles and the Stevens rifle were INCORRECT and that anyone who purchased on online would be getting a phone call about a "price adjustment" to their bill. WTF?

yes, be a lot of pissed off people including myself. I ordered mine yesterday and called them this afternoon to check the status and to see if my gun was in stock, she said it was and never mentioned anything about the price.

I got an Email stating that my rifle was not in stock and they were getting in in from another store, but nothing about tha price being different. I also bought a 223 rem in the Axis package last year for $250 and that was delivered no problems. Something tells me you were misinformed.
