Savage 11 XP .223 Coyote Load

Hornady 9th Edition lists 24.9 grains of Varget as Max for the 60 grain bullets... that is not to say that your gun can't handle 27 grains... because the Hornady manual is more conservative than most... but be sure to "work up." You are new so make sure to double check online advice with actual data and don't start your load at max. 27 grains of Varget is likely going to be a compressed load, I am borderline compressed at 26.5...

Hodgdon data lists 27.0grs of Varget as max for a 60gr bullet. Its a compressed load.

I believe that is what I said.

You never mentioned what Hodgdon listed for a max load, only Hornady. I was just throwing it out there for for the sake of sharing Hodgdon's dada. :)

"DATA" on paper or on line... is just that, data... it does not represent reality at the reloading bench... so tell me, from the Hodgdon website, what brass are they using? Once fired, twice fired, new??? How deep are they seating the bullets? My point is, that all of those charts represent the results of their testing, within the parameters of "their" equipment... it is a great place to start... I use the Hodgon website as well as about a dozen different reloading manuals... it is amazing the discoveries when you start cross referencing different sources, but data from any of these sources may not be my reality or your reality, because of the other factors that come into play... that is why you are always cautioned to "work up"... there are many "MAX" loads in the charts that I can't even fit into the case with a bullet seated, compressed or not... In my fire formed .223 cases, I cannot fit 27 grains of Varget and still seat 55 V-Max to a satisfactory depth (as an example).
