I was out yesterday with my buddy shooting his .338 Lapua. It is a Savage 110. We were using the Sellier and Bellot Match ammunition. He got 2 "clicks" out of 10 rds. I was kinda blaming it on hard/bad primers as the primers were struck pretty good. Anyways I am going to strip the bolt and clean it out (the rifle is brand new). He says he only cleaned the action and barrel of the preserving grease and not the bolt. Hopefully that will fix it. What say ye?

Just went through a similar situation with my Savage model 25. Cleaned the bolt and adjusted the protrusion out just a hair. I was also told it could have been the primers I was using. After adjusting protrusion a touch I have not had another problem (even with the same primers that were giving me trouble). Hope it works out for you, hunting is a lot less fun when you can't rely on your gun to go bang.

p.s. start with the simplest fix first. clean the bolt workings with something like lighter fluid to get all that bad gunk out. when i cleaned mine it came out in chunks just about.

I cleaned the bolt out. I also shortened the firing pin spring length just a hair to 2.58 inches (by turning the fwd collar while holding tension with my free hand). It seems to drop with a bit more authority now. Hopefully this will work. Thanks for the reply.
