Hi .

Please don't slam me for this question as I am not Rifle Savy I have a Savage BA 110 in .338 Lapua Magnum .

For what ever reason it refuses to eject spent brass .

Do I have to buy a new bolt oris it possible to fix these bolts if its damaged ?

This rifle has had less then 200 rounds of factory Ammo through it .

If I need a new bolt , are there after market ones available or is it best stick to the Savage .

What to you mean fails to eject. It extracts from the chamber fine, but the ejector does not want to fling it clear of the action? Does it try to fling it clean but it hits something and falls back in? Or does it just extract it from the chamber and just leave it sitting above the follower.

I would imagine it's just an extrctor problem (extractors are only a few dollars and easy to replace on most rifles, but I'm not a Savage guy.) Can you explain in a little more detail what is happeneing?

Hi . No , the empty casing remains in the forward position in the barrel . When you pull the bolt back , it leaves the casing in the barrel chamber .

Ah, that is an extraction problem. Could be either a defective extractor, or more likely a burr in the chamber. Both can be fixed by a gunsmith. Savage will do this under warranty. The bolt does get replaced. If it's an extractor issue they will relace it, if it has a burr in the chamber they will most likely remove the barrel, ream it a few thou deeper and spin the barrel back on.

Assuming it's new, your best option is have Savage warranty depot deal with it.

are you shooting hornidy brass by chance? if your are , thats your problem right there, hornidy brass in .338lm and savages dont like to go together, there is quite a few threads about this in the precision rifles section.. ranging from extration problems, to stiff bolt lift/manipulation

Nope , using S&B factory loads . Rifle was shooting amazing groups a few weeks back then all of a sudden , I was having problems pulling the bolt back after firing a round , then , the casings started to remain in the barrel . Someone thought I may have been shooting some " Hot " loads but I assure you , it is factory i'm using at the moment .

I shoot that same combination and have not had a problem. I would definatly check your extractor, this is the first I have heard S&B brass not extracting. Check the brass for overpressure as well you might just have a bad batch of ammo.

I bought 100 rounds , it just seems to be getting worse . When it does extract the "odd "one or two , it barely ejects them 6 " from the rifle .

I had the exact same issue with mine. I bought a flex hone. used it for 30 seconds with oil that they recomend and problem solved

If it's a rough chamber that is causing the extraction issues, the fired cases will likely have little patterns in them that you don't see in the unfired brass.
