Savage 110 Media and Info Thread

Mine started out life as a 111 Long Range Hunter in 338LM. I sold the barrel, brake, bolt head, 20 MOA aluminum rail and accustock and installed a 30" McGowan 338edge 1" diameter barrel no taper, magnum bolt head, ATRS 30 MOA steel rail and Choate Tactical stock. Still have not fired it yet : (
Here it is next to its little brother, 260Rem built on Stevens action, Shillen barrel and Choate stock. Timed the bolt and added a Nat lambeth bolt lift kit and you can literally lift the bolt with your pinky.

Beauty's! I'm gonna put a heavier barrel on mine one of these days, mitaswell get as much as I can outta the factory one first though, I couldn't believe how light the lrh barrels were to be honest

Thanks!!
That 260 shoots. I was out last week punishing an 8" gong at 712y.
I hope you have deep pockets! Lol!
338LM barrels should last over 2500 rounds!! Burning up you barrel sounds expensive.
But if the factory one shoots then keep and enjoy it as long as you can.

Hahaha yes I don't shoot it much so it should last me a good while, 2500 rounds is way more than I thought! Especially with how hot that lil barrel gets after 3 rounds!

Some new toys arrived in the mail last week :)

I picked up a Cadex Lite Strike for my 110 and manage to install it without breaking anything. I have to say, that chassis is incredibly easy to install.

Well packed from Cadex, a box within a box within a box:

Got all my parts together and cobbled the thing together following the simple diagram from Cadex. All I really needed was a Fat Wrench and the right heads :)

Lol, it appears that the Savage 110 doesn't have nearly the same following as the Savage 10TR.

i finally got the chance to shoot this rifle but I wasn't shooting groups with it or anything. Just wanted to get a quick zero and maybe a little plinking since we had the space.

I zeroed the rifle at 100m, stacking three shots and that was good enough for me. I reached out to a 9x9in gong at about 450m and smacked it with ease and then moved out to the 850m torso sized gong and no problems there. I'm sure that it's capable of much further so the next time we head out to Squamton, I'll see how she does.

I may see how well she actually groups by shooting a few proper 5 round groups, but for now, I'm very satisfied with what she's been able to do.

So far, it appears like it's a good rifle like my 10TR.

I figure if in the hands of an amateur like me, it can place three rounds touching at 100m with factory ammo (S&B), it should do fine in the hands of a pro with handloads.

I think the 110 is definitely something that deserves some attention.

That is great for a first time out, I have been busy with other things and just today ordered a Sightron 8-32x56 LRMD/CM from Prophet River's sale , that will be the most expensive glass I will ever be able to afford! I think the standard rail is 20 moa ( correct me if I am wrong) Mister Donut what type of rings are they and where can I get them? Will they work on the HS stock? I want to shoot this rifle a couple times this fall, and them maybe bed it and a few other rifles over the winter. Also want to start reloading for it to try and find a good load. I have 160 rounds of Lapua 250gr scennars to play with so that should give me lots of Brass to work with! These rifles look great and obviously a good place to start a build too! Good job on the thread Mister Donut! Cheers!

Nice! Glad it worked out and that HS Precision stock looks far nicer than the Accustock, which in most cases really needs a higher cheek rest. I found that the HS stock has a perfect height comb, at least for my face and scope height. Looks good!

I just picked up a 10 FCP HS but handled both it and the FCP SR w accustock in the store. There is no comparison. The accustock may have a bedding block, but it is still a cheap plastic stock. The HS precision os a very very stiff fibreglass stock with an aluminum bedding block.

I also love the very large palm swell. I could see it be a turn off for small handed folks, but bear paws are going to love it.

I also made the switch from rem to sav because of the prefit barrel swaps. Already picked up the vice and wrench. But I will shoot the crap outta the stock barrel before getting a MCGowan/Shilen select etc...

In the end, the stock and fatter contour barrel sold me on the FCP HS. I can't wait to break out beyond load tuning and report how accurate she is.

Hey, sorry for the late reply, the rings are Spuhr and I ordered them from Coretac Solutions but I think Wolverine carries them too :)

Yeah, HS Precision makes some pretty awesome stocks. I didn't really need to swap it out for my rifle, but I have a sick addiction to chassis rifles and I like the tool-less adjustability.

I used to have a 700p with the HS stock and when I compared it to my Accustock on my 10TR, I found myself preferring the HS Precision stock. I ended up selling the 700p a few years ago but found myself missing having a rifle with a traditional stock configuration so I ended up getting another one recently.

This HS stock has been my favorite for many years now. Started with a 10 FCP in .308 many years ago that was sold in favor of a Model 12 LRP in .260 that also had the HS stock. Now just the other day I picked up the .338LM in the HS stock. You read about guys having trouble with the trigger pull on these HS stocked savages, but if you are tall and have big mits that is a non issue as they accommodate large hands with that fat palm swell. One thing I will say about the .338 version is you better have deep pockets when starting to shoot it as brass and or factory ammo sure is expensive! That said does anyone have any good pet loads for the .338 version? I just picked up some 300gn OTM Bergers and nosler brass today and would love to hear a bit on the reloading front.

Thought I'd give this thread a little bump.

I finally got to get this thing to stretch it's legs. The last time I took this thing out, we only managed to find a spot that maxed out at 200m. This time, we found a nice spot between Merritt and Hope that could reach out to 2km easily. Hitting that far is another story - I will need to work on my marksmanship for that.

With the 110, I was able to ring steel on first shot for 480m, 680, 860m, and I had to work a bit for 1,190m (told you I suck).
