EDIT I AM AN IDIOT

It is a model 16

Im hoping to sell a Savage 16 locally but not sure how to price
.270 WSM
weaver 3x9 scope
2 magazines
Stainless with synthetic stock
Maybe 40 rounds

Any ideas? I hope to sell locally, and was thinking about $1000 including 5-6 boxes of ammo. Is this reasonable, high, or low

forgot in original post to include it has a weaver 3x9 with rings on it
That weaver is worthless, no offence. Like a $40 scope they usually don’t last very long. One came on my 7mm rem mag and it lasted about 7 rounds before it wouldn’t hold 0. I’d still say $1000 for the package is a fair price

The old steel bodied K series scopes were fine optics, the newer ones however leave much to be desired.

Thats about a fair price with the ammo id say.

Rifle (depending on condition) $500-600
Ammo 5x$80=$400

$1000 is fair for the package.

Do people really pay close to retail for ammo when someone is trying to sell it along side a gun? I've seen this twice today alone, and it just seems off to me?

How much you skippers think that Weaver is worth? If it’s the desirable one.

As others have mentioned, an old Weaver with a steel tube is a stout and usable scope. The new ones are definitely not that. At a gun show you'd be lucky to sell a steel tubed Weaver for $100, more likely $80. So figure half at best and $40 is about all it would be worth.

For perspective, I would walk past a $40 "Modern" Weaver and buy something better, even if I was only looking for a scope for a 22. They're trash.

Everything else in the used world is only worth a fraction of the new value so why would ammo be any different? Not saying that it should be half price, but 75% is what I think is the top end, unless it is for something exotic that you just can't get (think 348 Winchester).

You should just "know" that the potential Seller did not pay $80 per box for that ammo, unless it is only a few weeks old. Up to you how much of your money should get put into the Seller's pocket. Why would one think that "modern" full retail price has anything to do with "old stuff"?

All goes together, I suspect - if Seller can not get Model correct - likely stamped somewhere to read - what about more important stuff like bore condition - what is that Seller's "opinion" worth?? From perhaps mid 1970's, a guy in my Dad's hunting crew had a Model 110 Savage with a detachable magazine - was in 30-06 chambering - so that rifle likely North of 50 years old, now - the "worth" of it has not really much to do with what current modern replacement sells for??
