I'm looking to get into mid range precision shooting, Around 400 to 800 yards. I'm caught between the Savage 110 Tactical or the Remington 700 sps both in .308. To me the Savage comes out of the box ready to start ( 20moa rail, bedded and detachableagazine ) Where the remington is tried and true.

What would you guys pick and why? Thanks!

I have tikka tac and savage 110 elite precision both are in .223 , both are accurate the big difference are the actions. Savage action is not even close to being smooth and the tikka action is pure butter the things you learn from impulse buys lol

I had the 110 tactical paid for, then called in the next day and changed it to the Tikka, cost me an extra $400 but I feel better now.. lol
Tikka is confusing as ##### though, I’ve been a week trying to figure out what chassis will fit my 6.5 PRC.
I’ve called MDT and still not sure.. lol
The girl that answered kept saying I needed a SA chassis and 300 WM mags.
But they have two different mags listed, both under 300 WSM.
I’ll call Cadex next.

You should be able to go either way (SA or LA) with a Tikka. WSM mags with the SA or 300 WM mags and a LA bolt stop if you put it in a long action chassis.
As for two different 300WSM mags you want the regular mags. The XM mags are for Defiance XM actions.

So the only benefit of the LA is the COAL of the mag then.
Would I need the extra length of the LA mag if I’m only loading the 140 g bullets I wonder.
I guess I’ll wait for the gun to get here, so I can measure my chamber.

For 140s you'll be fine in short action mags. Even 150 class bullets will fit fine in the SA mags (with no binder plates). Get a short action chassis and some WSM mags and you'll be good to go.
