Savage 110BA & Falcon Menace

Thanks Scheter and Dude for you replies. After reading what I have here, i'm now leaning more toward the Sightron line of optics. I've heard they have a new lineup for 2011, i'll check that out in a bit, hoping they have something in FFP with Mil/Mil as that is what I would like to have. I would like to get a FFP if possible, I would like to range with it so I know how versus relying on a LRF all the time. Still undecided though, keep looking I guess. Thanks everyone!

Yes i own one, yes i have used it for long range, max i could get out of it was 850 yds w/holdover on a 300 RUM with 208amax travelling at 2950 fps.

Bushnell Tactical 4200 has 46+moa of adjustment (50 moa advertized) I can get my .308 past 1025 yards with this;) A 30mm tube has advantages...

I bought a Elite 4200 6-24x50 Tactical about a month ago and honestly I can't see where it gives anything up in quality to my Swarovski except the price. I can't comment on the Sightron but I've heard a lot of good about it too.
 
I have a Bushnell 4200 6-24x50 on my 338LM..... For the price, it can't be beat IMO. I mounted mine with Leupold MK4 rings.

The 110BA comes with a 20MOA base already, so you should have no problem hitting 1500 y.

According to my ballistics calc. with a 300y zero, 300gr Bergers cooking along @ 2850 fps (which is conservative) you should only need 21 MOA of adjustment in your optic. Gotta love the BC of the Berger bullets!

Now extrapolate that further, I for one have yet to shoot mine at 1000, 600 y is all I can manage with out a weekend trip. With the Bushnell you have an advertised 50 MOA of adjustment, someone said 46 so lets use 45. Add that to your 20 MOA base for a total of 65 MOA.......

That gets you to 1850y, using the above load.

Personally if I ever get to shoot that far I will more than likely be able to afford a new scope.....

The only issue with the low moa scopes with 45-50moa is with a 20 moa base you end up adjusting so high that you lose some of your short range windage. I run a Trijicon with 52 moa on a 20moa rail for my .308 and have had no issues, but the first 300 to maybe 400 yard may offer you limited windage because the reticle lense is already all the way up. It is a circle the top is narrower than the middle. I would strongly suggest looking at the Vortex Viper PST I believe it has 75moa with a 20moa base you would be have plenty of windage at any range even if you want to start shooting out further.

I wouldn't think 2850Fps is conservative with a 300g and only a 26" barrel.
