Hello, curious to see if there are other owners of this rifle. In doing a search for previous posts over the years, it looks like it is pretty much a few posts selling these and one post asking about the differences between the 110/111 series.

Just curious if anyone owns a 111 FCNS. There seems to be a large disparity in pricing for some of these, with the standard being plastic trigger guard and magwell / mag release. I have one on the way that is metal guard and metal well and release. I can't imagine that will be the cause of the big price difference. Mine is apparently a black version of the weather warrior model but not a standard 111. I don't know enough to know all the nuanced differences, but apparently it is a tack driver out of the box. The one that is on the way to me (used) is chambered in 30.06. It has the accustock / aluminum bedded/supported.

Would appreciate any feedback from any other owners of this model for things to look for, change, etc. I am also curious as to whether these are still being widely sold or whether they've been discontinued. Aside from a few youtube videos (from 10+ years ago), I don't see a whole lot of recent stuff about this model, which may imply to me it is 10+ years old. From one site I recall reading that the 111 series may have been released in 2005-ish, but other sites say it is from the 80s/90s...

Anyway, any feedback you would have would be much appreciated, thanks.

From memory that FCNS would mean it's a F-synthetic stock with C-detachable mag(clip) and NS-no sights? The models used to be 11 for short action blued, 16 short action stainless, 111 for long action blued and 116 long action stainless and i believe 110 was a tactical version. Mine has the mag release in front of the trigger guard, which matters if you're looking at aftermarket stocks.
These days the numbers don't seem to make as much sense in that regard and i think they've done away with the letter designations.

I got my model 16 FCNS .308 in 2009 or 2010, so they were still being sold in that time frame. It's been solid for me even if i don't use it as much anymore, it's my "old dependable" that i can grab any time and need something i can depend on.

The synthetic material for the stock seems much more solid and substantial than a lot of newer rifles and the only real downside for me is that the accustock is a tad on the heavy side compared to other rifles i've held. This isn't so bad for stand hunting, but it's no ultralite mountain rifle that's for sure.

I get decent groups with federal blue box for hunting. I've never tried other ammo combinations or loads on a bench so i can't comment on the smallest groups it can get, but it's minute of a deer easy enough.

The FCNS 10/110 Savages I've seen have been identical to other models with the exception of a blind magazine. I have one (I think it is) in 223. I originally thought I wouldn't care too much for it, but I absolutely love it. Like most Savages, hard to tell date of manufacture from SN. Mine has accutrigger (post 2002?), and smooth barrel nut (post 2010?). Feeding is very smooth and completely reliable. Rifle is very accurate. I couldn't be happier with it. Rifle has actual deep bluing, which is nicer than the more modern matte finish. I'd say you're pretty safe here.

I have a 270 WSM model 11 GCNS which is the short action, wood stocked, blued barrel not matte finish version. Bought new early 2000's after the release of the accutrigger. Been a good rifle, took a lot of deer with it. I mostly use a 308 now for deer so it doesn't get used as much. Only issue I ever had was the vibration from shooting loosened the stock screws but retorquing with a little blue loctite solved that.

Thanks everyone. The rifle came in today. The box, while pretty rough, still had the Savage Indian logo, so this presumably was pre-2016 or so, when I think when Savage dropped that logo (sadly).

It is cool that the old Savage Indian logo is on the gun, though (see below)

Rifle is in great condition, better than I expected. Buttpad is still nice and cushy without any damage or wear that I can see. Rifling is superb. Will take it out and give it a try shortly.

Thanks for your input.
