Has anyone heard anything about or used a Savage 111FCXP3 Bolt Action Rifle in .270 Win. I'm wondering if it would be a good beginner rifle for deer hunting. Accuracy, quality, dependability. Any information at all on this rifle would be great.

Thanks!!!

If thats the combo gun, well I have one in a 30-06. Seems to be a great rifle. I put a Limbsaver pad on it because it kicked like a mule. I can put 3 holes all touching eachother at 100 yards with no problem.

If thats all you can afford I say go for it but if you can afford more, I say spend the money and get a tikka t3, Rem SPS! Another cheap rifle to look at is a Stevens 200 made by savage as well

I have one,(bough on this site) the stock has been replaced by boyds laminate (bedded), and trigger lightened and bolt handle replaced (not needed). Shoots better than MOA. Id say it would be a great deer gun.

130gr. loads @3000 + fps = dead deer.

have fun:)

bought a Savage111 package without the accutrigger but it has a removable box mag, I only changed the scope, its got a bushnel elite 3200 3-9x40 and burris zee rings

300WM, shoots well, got a moose and 2 deer last fall using factory ammo.

just starting working up loads for it. Its just broken in now with 60 rds downrange

The rifle's econo but good. If it's the package model you might want to get a better scope for it. I'd go a Bushnell Elite 3200 3-9x40mm on a Savage or Stevens rifle. Would make a nice rig. ;)

Just wondering if you picked up the savage and if so how has it preformed. I am also looking into this or anoter package. Im looking into a savage and I have no experience with scopes so Im going to need as much help for a new setup. Could you let me know how yours went, that would be great.

still playing with the loads, but is does have a fairly stout recoil :)

I still recomend the bushnell 3200 elite for a good money for quality scope, and I'm not a fan of those savage rings
