Does anyone have this cheap package that includes a 3-9 x 40 scope for under $450? For the amount of times I plan on shooting a 30-06 for hunting I think this might be the one for me.

Can I expect after a couple hundred rounds of practice to successfully take this package as is hunting for moose/deer out to 200m?

WSS has it for $460 if you are not scared of dealing with them.
That's where I bought mine and had zero snags on the deal. Very accurate, when I finished sighting it in, I've put 3 holes on a target at 100m where all 3 would touch a dime placed between them. I did change the scope thou for Nikon ProStaff in 3-9x40.

I had one and the scope is garbage! I have been using it on a Stevens 200 in .270 then switched it to a .223, and after probalbey 160 - .308 rounds, 80 - .270 rounds, and 60 - .223 rounds it has gone ####ed! I am trying to zero it with the .223 and no matter what adjustments I make it just wont happen! groups are good but cant get them on target. Moral of this story is for the money you are better off buying a Stevens 200 and getting a decent scope, and rings. You will spend a little more but not much and have a better gun in the end!

That Simmons score is garbage, I use mine to check holes in targets when shooting pistol... that's all it's good for.

Interesting. Thanks for the responses. I was drawn to the package because it included the scope. Buying a Stevens with a better scope sounds like a plan. Either that or something used.

the one i bought came with a bushnell. i really liked it but shooting 308 without reloading was getting kind of pricey so i sold it to a good friend. nothing wrong with the rifle itself

buddy has a similar if not identical setup with a bushnell 3200 (7 mag). Last 3 deer he shot were all 350+ yards (only one of which required finishing off) and its his first big game rifle, all factory ammo so far... so something works. hard to go wrong for the money id say.

I bought one in a 30-06 a couple years ago. I have shot 2 deer with it.

The scope is nothing to brag about but has not given me issues, my gun shot pretty damn good right out of the box.

Considering what I paid, I am really happy with this package.
