Savage 111FCXP3?

I had one of these. I loved its functionality and quality of the functioning bits. I did find the finish to be severely lacking though.

Funny... thats half the reason i dident buy a 700SPS DM a couple months back when they had em on sale... the finish on the barrel was super thin in several spots and they wanted $500 without bases/rings/scope... not such a great deal after i really thought about it.

If you're less picky, it might be a great rifle for you.

Thats the thing about these rifles, most of em are going to folks who will only dust em off once a year so they probably wont appreciate a "finer rifle" and a sako/ruger/remington/weatherby makes for some expensive meat in there eyes... the rest of us who buy em see them for what they can be not what they really are so finish is not the utmost on the list either... in my eyes i know i got a decent hunting rifle, in my head i paid $350 for 8" of metal that can be whatever i decide i want to attach to it...

Heh... It's the excitement of a new gun and thick winter clothing! Bench that rifle in the summer and shoot a few boxes in a t-shirt and you might have a different opinion :D

Nice camo stock, i like it!

Blue loctite your bases before you pump too many rounds thru it, when the screws shake loose you will loose your zero and have to start again... Just some friendly advice.

Thanks for the advice. I'll be sure to loctite the bases before I put it on a bench to sight in.

I am already collecting different types of ammo to compare accuracy and see which the gun likes best.

Okkk-ey...

I got Savage FCXP3 in 30-06 about 3 years ago. Changed the scope (and bases as they were 'contaminated' = "forked") - 3 rounds in a row in same frigging 'dime' from 100m. That's good enough for a hunting rifle that had NOTHING done to it but scope change.
