Savage 116 Alakan Brush Hunter 338wm... first time out... meh

Well.... Since this is a necrothread, I will add more advice......

Is it possible that the weight of a 20 cartridge shell holder, a tactical flashlight and improvised bayonet system throwing off the weight and harmonics of your "bush gun"?.....

If you do choose Talley bases, they also make a ghost ring rear sight for their base. I actually prefer a one piece base so that I can optimize my eye relief and have greater latitude for locating the rings, which is especially beneficial with short tube scopes.

Since I started this thread long ago.. I have since sold the Rifle to a fellow CGNer.
The rifle shot well and did lots of bush walks, in the end.
I would buy another, just would like a better stock if I did.
I found the 338wm was not worth the extra oomph, in comparison to a 300wm in a performance aspect.
And yes. The rail got in the way of feeding. It was annoying. You guys win.

the weekend revivals...

No offence intended bud.... And good on you for posting back....as a hunter, I was wary of even putting an XS rail on my scout..... I am not an add on fan.....
