What is the difference between the Savage 12fv and the 10fp?? I know the 10fp has a matte finish while the 12fv has a blued finish but that is all I could find. Is one a better shooter than the other??

The 12FV has a 26" barrel and a Chrome bolt. vs the std 10 FP all black and 24 " barrel the LE1 & 2 you can get 26 " barrels as well.
I think thats it, Oh ya 12FV is stamped on it LOL

I think you might be right do BUM, my 22-250 had a Laminate stock but it was a 112 FV?
Well there not much difference in the main body construction. My 112 FV was biult on a long action however.

12FV and 10FP are the same actions. 12FV has stainless bolt while 10FP has blued. 10FP has extra swivle stud for bipod as well and both have the same cheap stocks. Barrel length is 26" on all 12FV, 24" on 10FP (LE models have 20" & 26" versions as well).

I gotta say...I like Savage products in general and have owned many excellent ones. But, wow, those people just can't leave well enough alone when it comes to model names and numbers, or minor things like receiver screw spacing, receiver top contours, bolt release location, staggered vs. center feed, magazine release style/location and probably others I can't remember off the top of my head.

If you want an aftermarket stock or scope mount for a Rem700, you gotta know if you have a long or short action; that's pretty much it, aside from of course making sure that the barrel channel is large enough in case you have a heavy barrel. With a Savage, most of the above-mentioned factors come into play. Even for something as simple as a set of scope bases, there are different receiver contours that demand different bases.

It's like a Tim Hortons regular customer having to buy a coffee at a Starbucks; just too many dang questions. :)
