Good day,
I need a second taught,
I have a old Savage 16fcss in 7mm FCSS, that I dont use much.
I would like to get the same caliber (7mm WSM) as I`m already set-up for that caliber (reload)
I`m wondering if the action is strong enought, if this model is a good plate-form to put
a big barrel.
something like 26/30 inch.
Heavy varmint contour.
Should I get rid of it instead and get a fresh start with something else.
I already have a Savage 12 in 308, she serve me well,
But I really like the 7mm, long slim bullet with astronomic BC.
I dont shoot much, but really enjoy the ar-500 sound over 6-700 yards.
thanks for your help

Action is fine. Stock you might want to change out along with the barrel. But if it was me I would get a new barrel, bed the action in the factory stock and have fun. It should easily shoot sub moa with hand load out to that distance.

Later if you don't like the stock you can change it then.

Thanks a lot for the input,
She`s already dress with a Boyds laminate Pepper.
I didnt liked the factory plastic one, so I tried camo dip it..
didnt really like the result neither LOL.
So I bought a Boyds.
Now she`s pretty.
The Winchester Supergrade (270 wsm) is my main hunting rifle, so pretty !!!

That looks like a long action to me, and by 7mm I'm going to assume your meaning 7mm-Rem Mag...

I think if that's the case a .280 standard or Akley would make more sense to me, a bolt face and barrel and probably a new mag box and your off to the races...
