I looking to buy a new rifle to remplace my .243 win ( a mauser action rebuild with a custom fit stock). I dont whant to go with the tactical savage serie. I will use this gun for some long range shooting but I like to use the same for the deer hunting. The savage 16fcsak look nice for the 2 use but i'm not sure if I can expect a submoa accuracy with this gun with a minimum of modification ( pretty sure I need to change the stock, savage stock is not stiff enought). What is your opinion about this gun?

Do you think the weatherby vanguard sub moa is a better gun or I will just pay for the brand name?

for now I'm a little bit confused about the choice for my new rifle, I need some advice and I think here is the better place to have it.

what I have now but the barrel start to be worn

my first choice the savage with the stainless flutted barrel, on and off muzzle brakeand accutrigger

my second one weatherby vanguard with a warranty of sub moa accuracy and 200$ more expensive.

If it were me I would buy the Vangaurd and you don't need the MOA Model the standard Vangaurd will shoot just fine. This is what my 223 Vangaurd will do and its not a MOA.

I'm not a big fan of muzzle brakes, and on a .308 probably not necessary, personal choice of course, but see if you can find a .308 to shoot with or without a brake to judge for yourself. The Savage stock is flimsy but we don't use them for breaking down doors or cracking skulls. Have a good look at the new style Savage drop-box mag, I think it's the slickest unit out there but then I'm a Savagefan. Happy shopping and shooting.
