hello , any of you guys know where i could find a savage 17 mach2 Mark II F (synthetic with iron sight) new?

already asked 2 different dealer and the answer was that i can take 6 to 8 month before i get 1 if i get 1

The Mach 2 round seems to be losing the popularity contest to the HMR round. I haven't seen ANY rifles chambered in 17 Mach 2 in my area for some time now. Not a lot of ammo available for it either.

Keep looking, they're out there. Sometimes you have to contact 10-20 dealers to find what you need~just part of the game. 17M2s show-up in the EE from time to time as well, so keep your eyes open.

HMR is better-known, ammo/guns more readily available, but based on some "industry" types I've talked to, there is still a big demand for M2 ammo...so no plans to discontinue it. I have about 12 boxes of Hornady I'm not touching until I know I see ammo on the shelf locally again. I hear that shouldn't be too long.

Stick with it though~17M2 is a great little round. I've had 3 HMRs. They're gone, the M2 is still here.

Yea will keep looking ,im pretty sure somewhere a dealer have 1 taking dust on a shelf ;) im really surprised that a lot of companies have stop making rifles for this round i think the timing was bad when they introduced this little round. A lot of people had doubts about those little 17 even the hmr , now a lot more people have tried them and liked them .Now would have been a better time to introduce the mach 2 cause there are a lot of hrm out there selling and more and more people like the little 17 round and would be willing to try the mach 2

It was introduced after the hmr so that might be why its not very popular. I had an hm2 sold it because my 22lr was more accurate at 100. At 200 I shot the hm2 a few times and it was printing ~12" clusters. The bullets were impacting sideways. I ran some over a chronograph and velocity was nowhere near what was advertised and very large spreads ( I'm talking like a few hundred fps). Imho its a 50 yard gun and for that range a 22lr is alot cheaper to shoot and you have lots of options. Also ammo is $8 -9 for 50 rounds here. Can get some good 22lr ammo for $7-8/100.

In the usa hm2 seems to be fairly popular with squirrel hunters.

Given the choice between 22lr, hm2, and hmr I would take 22lr or hmr every time.
