Hey guys, I'm thinking of letting this one go. I am not a savage guy and I've seen a large range of prices on these. This one is original unrestored and showing its age. The screws have not been messed with and there is NO tang crack. S/N 82.###. Any help appreciated.

the gun digest book of gun values shows an original 1899 in excellent condition as $1000.00 all the way down to and anywhre in between to the 99E late model $190.00 in good condition. yours may be showing its age but it's still in pretty good shape from your photos

Value would be in the range of $300-$400 dollars--condition is not bad assuming the bore is ok. Too much blue wear and wear to the finish on the wood to command top prices. Is worth more because it is a 30-30. If it was a 303 you could knock $100 off the estimates.

FWIW--prices do vary depending on what part of the country you are in.

Nice old bird! Made 1909 or prior [I had a similar one with 26" full octagonal barrel in .30-30 sn. 83,### at one time that was made in 1909]

I'd say 44bore nailed it with his quote.

The gun does have some wear, mainly on the metal but your right about it being all original, I see there is some factory varnish still on it, flaking off but there is some still there. Also a good point is that there isn't the famous Savage tang crack, good solid wood set there. Front sight is correct but I think the rear has been replaced, the buckhorn sight would be correct but that one seems to short for that period of 1899.

Nice shooter, you'd get $400 for it.

Your gettin slow in your old age MadDog!
Figured you'd be on this thread yesterday!
I agree with all the above providing it has a nice sharp bright bore.
