Apparently, the 3rd version of the a/a pistol, chambered in .380 ACP, had a barrel greater than 4" [ie would be classified as restricted in Canada]. Anyone know what the actual barrel length of said pistol was?

Pic for info:

Earlier versions apparently had 95mm barrels, which would be prohib in Canada.

Thanks in advance.

All 3 models in .380 are restricted, the 1907, 1915 and the 1917 like in your original post. It is the .32 versions that have the shorter barrel.
My registrations have 108mm.

Thanks for posting. Very nice collection!

These Savage pistols were way ahead of their time with the double stack magazines.

A few years back at the SHOT SHOW in fabulous Las Vegas, the NRA booth, on the main floor, had one of the Savage 45acp pistols that took part in the US Army pistol (final) trials in 1909-1910. It was either the .380 or the .32acp Savage scaled up version, that ultimately lost to JMB’s 1910 model.
The .380 version of the model 1907 is on my wish list.

I have an ex .32 version that I had a gunsmith make a longer .380 barrel for. It is now restricted. Unfortunately the barrel protrudes out of the slide a bit. Fun little gun to shoot!

Certainly ahead for the time, the 1915 is my favourite version, with its shrouded hammer/cocking piece and a last shot hold open with slide stop/release, it has the most going for it. Shame it’s the rarest version.
