I just bought a savage 219 in 30-30 from a man who could no longer hunt. it's in pretty decent shape and with a bit of loving care wil make a great deer rifle. it is sporting an old weaver k3 thats actually quite clear.

Does anyone reload for one of those and if so what kind of bullet do you use?

I was thinking of going with some sierra spitzer in the 125 to 150 grins range since bullet design is not a problem.

your help is appreciated and if anybody can telle me what kind of accuracy you get il would give me an idea of what to expect.

Eric

I use Sierra Pro-Hunter 150 gr FN pn #2000. 32 Gr of IMR 4895, CCI LR primers, OAL 2.525". Under 2" consistently at 100m. This load is a little mild but I am happy with the accuracy. I do not shoot over 100m with my rifle (lever action, iron sights) so I cannot give you any long distance information.

thanks m77. I intend to use it stand hunting on my land and distances are araund 75 yards for the farthest shots. For long range hunting I have rem 700 in .308 and I'm in the process of building a custom rig in 6.5x55 to hunt 'yotes

I will try your recipe as soon as I get a set of dies
