Savage 22 high power model 1899

Hi I have a 22hp take down,can't find any ammo but I was told to purchase 5.6x52r as they are the same. Is this correct?

5.6x52R is the european designation for the 22 HP and will work in your savage

Welcome to CGN patricg. What are you using for bullets, or are you just purchasing factory ammo? I would think that finding .228" slugs would be more challenging than finding .22 HI Power brass.
