I just picked up a Savage 24p in 22/20 ga. I got the 22 sighted in but found when patterning the shotgun it is not the same point of impact. The best patterning is about 6" low and 10" left. It's easy compensating up and down just using the whole sight instead of tip. This model has the separate barrels so I'm wondering if you take the barrel clamp off and shim the left side and bottom with maybe a piece of pop can would this work?

Thanks millwright, watched that and seemed to work. I am not planning on shooting slugs so it doesn't have to be extremely precise, would just like the pattern a little more centered. I'm going to try a shim or two in band but not between barrels (kind of looks like crap)

I know it's a shotgun, but shooting at flying grouse with the bulky back rifle sight in the way is already enough of a challenge for me without having to aim high and right on top it.

The only Savage 24 that I owned /kept that was regulated was an older model .410-.22 The 30-30/20 ga. barrels weren't within a yard of each other at 20 yards! Poor QC .You would think some twit at the factory could pop a couple lase bore cartridges into the bore ,regulate POI then attach them before selling the gun............Harold

I did try shimming it and it worked, I had to adjust the shim 3 times but by the time I was done I can aim dead on and over doubled the pellet count in a 10" circle at 30 yds.

Good going colonel3006. Glad it worked for ya. I heard of some people useing a rear folding sight. So when it came time to shoot they folded the rear sight out of the way and used the front sight like a bead.
