Savage 25 LVT .223

I ordered a Tikka T3 stainless steel varminter in .223 caliber today. Nice rifle and reports are that it is highly accurate. It has a nice stock that is very rigid, beautiful smooth action and a 24" heavy barrel. The magazine hold 6 shots and the trigger is user friendly adjustable down to 2 pounds approx. The cheek piece is not adjustable but is higher than normal. Now to get a scope for it.

I think you made a great decision. Enjoy your new rifle.

Now we have to come up with a cover story of what to tell your wife your doing when she catches you reloading. :D

good luck.

I don't know why I didn't clue into the Tikka before. I guess I had Savage on the brain. As soon as I handled one down at the gun shop. I knew that the quality was there and it just felt right. The one I had in my hands was a .270 I believe so I had to order one in .223. I'll get it in a month.

Tikkas are nice, they actually are comfortable to shoot, great trigger and accurate. Good Luck with your new purchase.

Tikka makes what I believe is the most accurate factory rifle in its class. There is cult worship of Remington and Savage on this forum that is just plain nonsense. In about 6 point five seconds, someone who has never owned a Tikka is going to post a ##### about their stocks or their magazines. Ignore them.

Enjoy your rifle and just shake your head at the nay sayers.

I am looking forward to recieving my rifle in about a month. What power of scope do you guys think would work out to 200 yards? I am looking at Vortex and Mueller scopes up to 24 power. I will, of course, start my shooting at 75 yards and work my way up to longer ranges. What is a good style of target ( paper ) for ranging in the rifle/scope? I guess I will start with 55 grain factory ammo then procede to my 60 grain handloads then 69 grain handloads. I am glad the Tikka has a 1:8 twist as it gives me more ammo choices. I will have to talk my gun club into long range target contests.
