Savage 311

Has anyone here ever tried disassembling a savage 311 action completely?

Took the stock off today and realized theres a lot of rust and gunk in there.

If I take those two pins out will I end up with a whole lot of pieces i wont be able to put back together for lack of a jig of some sort?

Or should I just soak the whole thing in WD40 and see if it really remove rust?!

If the mainsprings fall out on you , you will have a fun time getting them back in. They have to be compressed. I would just soak the whole assy. in mineral spirits or some other type of cleaner, maybe spray the inside with carb cleaner and blow out all the debris. I wouldn't soak it in WD40.
