Hello Gents,

After looking and finger diddling both a Savage 10 BA and 110 BA I got the bug . . . BAD!

Looked into the EE and found a few first gen 10 BA's in 308 and a 110 BA in 300WM.

DelSelins also had new 110 BA's in 338LM at a great price.

After doing some number crunching, spent a little more than a used 10 BA and got me a new 110 BA in 338LM :D

All in it (tax + S&H) it was cheaper than the Cabelas price on the 10 BA

Yes the ammo is way more pricey than 308 but hey that's what reloading is for :D

BTW, Brandon at DelSelins was top notch!

Now just gotta wait for the glass/rings . . .

Nice score!
Congratulations on the new 'toy'.
I have a BA 10, which I really like to have in my safe and shoot.
I was thinking of selling it a while ago to move up to a .338 110 BA, as I want to try my hand at 800-1000 yards this year and wanted a flatter shooting round than the .308.
However, I really like the look of the BA, although I removed the aluminum factory rail and installed a Warne 20 MOA rail to tone it down a bit.
After a bit of thinking, I decided to keep the 10 BA and ended up buying a 110 FCP HS in .338, so I now have a BA for inexpensive practice, plus the .338 for when I want to try 'reaching out'.
I know a lot of guys put down Savage, but IMHO they produce a well made product, that shoots very well and you don't have to sell a kidney to buy one!!
Reloading is the only way to go with .338, doing so keeps rounds at a very reasonable cost, plus you gain in accuracy. As Charlie would say "Winning"!!!
Hope you enjoy your new gun.

Great combo for a range day, best of both worlds. I just love the look and performance of the Savage BA platform.

I did manage to find some "affordable" ammo from Fishing World. While 30 bucks for 10 rounds isn't cheap it's enough to tie me over until reloading starts.

Ah Ha! You must be a "local"!
I have 6 boxes of the S&B ammo which I also purchased from Fishing World to use to sight in my new toy, then use for reload trials.
Plus I picked up 100 once fired Lapua brass from Dizzy Dan a while ago for some nice "developed" reloads.
If you are a Silverdale member, I may see you there in the spring!

Cheers.

Not a local but a constant CGN EE lurker ;)

The Fishing World guys were great to deal with.

With any luck will be sighting this beastie in at a buddies farm come March :D

I just got my 338 Edge North Shore Barrels custom to make hits at 800. Ran out of bullets trying to make the next step to 1000.

I have the Savage FCP in 338 LM. When my new scope arrives it is going to have to match the Edge. Or else.

They are both a lot of fun to shoot. No recoil but boy are they loud. Muzzlebreaks!
