Hi,

Does anyone here know of any recoil pads that will fit nicely with the original lines of a savage 340? I'm not to concerned about reducing recoil but rather increasing the length of pull.

If there's nothing out there, any recommendations for someone who could make/fit one?

Thanks!

One thing here. Do not base the length of the recoil pad on the length of the 340 stock. You have to "extend" the bottom line of the stock so that there is a continuous stock line. Some manufacturers make their recoil pads with this angle but I have seen a lot of home installed recoil pads that have the stock line comes down to the wood, then flat on the bottom rather than continuing downwards at an angle. Looks like crap.

And, using flip-flops, you can make it as long as you want by adding extra layers. This is on a 9.3X62 that had a butchered stock.

Borden, Ont. mean you're CF? Got access to a belt sander or know a guy in the gun shop? There are spacers that can be sanded to fit and a belt sander is the easiest way of doing it. Tape the stock. A drive up the 400 to Epp's will likely be in order. If he doesn't have exactly what you want he'll have something close. Worth the drive anyway.
There are also slip on recoil pads that'll add about an inch of length too. Pachmayr makes 'em.
