Many moons ago I did a two piece mount on a savage 340 bolt action 30-30, drill and tapped for weaver bases. the rear base was from a win 94 and the front weaver base I cannot remember what it was for the life of me. It was from info I had found in the gunsmiths kinks books from brownells. Needless to say the need to find what the front base number was has arisen. I no longer have the Kinks series from brownells so if someone could look that up for me and let me know which weaver base is the front one for this odd job I would be grateful

thanks in advance

Weaver makes a two piece base/side mt. I'd have to check but either a #1 or #2 plate with the short side mt + rings................Harold also for cooey 60 +600

I take a 1 piece, Weaver 63 rail and drill it into the front of the reciever so that it works like a cantelever mount and hangs over the action. Has worked great on the dozen or so guns I have set up like that. A piece of picatinny rail could work to as long as it is thick enough.

Interesting, will have to try this.
You don't find that the 63 flexes on recoil?

The project I did years ago allowed you to use a standard weaver base on the front and a modified weaver base on the back bridging the open reciever. Thats why the rear base was origionally for a win 94. I used the front base on another gun because the savage was not being used. I have since desired to remount the scope on the savage 340 and just need to recall what front base I used origonally
