Hello Guys,

I was wondering if anyone has ever mounted a scope on a Savage 340A in 30-30. I'm trying to decide which mounts to purchase, that will fit, as well as rings. I've got a 3-9 x 32 Tasco that I'm putting on it. I just plan on keeping it as a back-up / bush gun. I would even consider keeping the stock open sights as well, and going with a see through mount if possible.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks, Bill

There is a simple stamped steel mount, or you could use a Weaver sidemount base, with Weaver sidemount rings.

The Weaver mt #2 I think? It's solid and your backup gun may turn out to be more accurate than the primary piece.Savage 340's are crude but very good shooters.......................Harold

Thanks for the info. I used a Weaver side mount on a reworked 303 Lee Enfield, which turned out great.
As far as the Savage being accurate........it sure is! I took it out when I was sighting in a couple other guns with scopes, and it would shoot groups under 1".....better than the others that I was actually working on..... That's Murphy's Law though....spend big bucks on a nice gun and the old hand-me-down from the 60's is the winner:confused:

Thanks again, Bill
