The Savage 340 was chambered in 225 winchester and sold in Canada as the C.I.L. 830. Back in 1968 the local hardware store had two 830s in stock a 30-30 and a .225 Winchester. I bought the 30-30 complete with scope for just under $100.00.

The 340 has a single locking lug at the front of the bolt. The bolt handle doubles as a second locking lug att he back of the receiver.

Savage M-340

This rifle was chambered for the following cal. ; .22 hornet , .222 Rem.
.223 Rem. & .30-30 Win. After 50 yrs. of shooting & collecting I have seen many of these rifles. in all cal. except .223 Rem. Good shooting rifle on a low budget. Clips are available @ gun shows around GTA . Good luck with it . If you can't find a clip I can help you to get one.
