Savage 64 Precision

Geez, that sale at FOC is tempting - and I just got one a couple weeks ago. But I traded a pellet rifle for it so I'm OK. It made #2, the first is about 8 years old and still my fave plinker. I just have a red-dot on it but the new one has a vintage Weaver D4 and I got 0.556" @ 50 with the 4x. Plenty good for me so far, and even the dot does under 2" @ 50.
BTW, I had an A22 and dumped it cheap. I hated the 'Clunk' from the reset each shot, and even with a Varmint spring the trigger was ca 3#. Accuracy was OK but not 'great'.
If you want accuracy under $500 I'd suggest a B22, mine always shoots under 0.5" with 'good' ammo like SK+.

BTW the posts about the OEM trigger are right. I put the MCarbo Sear spring in and put a Bic spring in the T-return. Pull is about 2.5# after polishing the rough edges inside.

And it's sold out!

Didn't get a chance to move on it quick enough. Hope whoever did manage to pick one up enjoys, that's cheap entertainment for the little ones, buy one of the new 20 round mags, slap a red dot on it and give it hell.

After looking again, I'm not sure what variant of the rifle I'll get with that FOC deal. The pictures show the 64 FVSR, but the description is for the 64 FVXP. Good price either way, albeit not the same setup.

I have the fluted heavy barrel. With Norma match Iam getting around half inch groups. I have been really impressed with so far. C6214034-E481-4C30-B5F7-2539DD24FB76.jpg

I'll have to put a 'better' scope on my 'new' one to see what it's capable of. I had a 3-9 on the older one a couple years ago and got under 0.5" with SK+ and CCI-SV. It has the flash hider that weighs about 4-5-oz, that prob helps?
