So I bought a Savage 64 TR SR 22 LR and have been having a blast(!) with it and is shoots very well; about a quarter size hole at 25yo (at least that's good for me - in my defense it was pretty quick firing). So for fun I attached a M16/AR15 style muzzle hider and the accuracy has gone to hell; still acceptable but not like it's was. So...not having a wrench with me at the range I couldn't take off the flash hider to see if the groups pop back...however I'm at about the 700 round mark and I am wondering it the barrel needs cleaning or it's the flash hider. I'll sort it out eventually but in the mean time I'm wondering if anybody else has experience a similar situation when a flash hider has been installed? I didn't over tighten it, just enough to hold it in place...I have been firing American Eagle though it...any thoughts??

I have the same rifle, but haven't shot more that 200 rounds TOPS thru it. However, after 500 there should be some cleaning done (I bore snake my 22LR's). Some ammo is dirtier than others. I once lost accuracy after a 50 round box of bulk ammo. I went back to the CCI minimags I normally used and haven't gone back.
So a quick range report, at 25 yards there is no discernible difference between with or without the flash hider which is good news; the cleaning seemed to help. Not surprisingly when I switched from one lot of American Eagle to another there was a small change in accuracy. Just for giggles I loaded up a magazine with CCI 'Standard Velocity' that I had brought along to shoot in my FN Browning Trombone and the groups shrunk to dime size...flawless function too.
