Hey Everyone, Want some advice from the fellow gunnutterz! Looking to buy a .22lr for the budget weekends, but still wanna plink (in between payday shooter). Looking at the Savage 64f, but worried if its too cheap, ill get what i pay for. Can you guys direct me to something interesting?

The savage 64 has been in continuous production for many years...from cooey, Winchester, Lakefield-Mossberg to present issue. My first issue Model 64 shoots as good today as when it was made way back before the 60s. Despite some fumbles ( which any semi gun will) and ammo selection, the Savage should serve you well.

If its anything like my original Cooey 64 make sure you clean it after a box or two of ammo goes thru it. The Ruger 1022 is insanely reliable compared to this rifle and will eat as much ammo as you can feed thru it. Still the 64s have a certain charm to them. Disassemble and clean often and it will serve you well and for a long time.

I adore my 64s!

My first (and still fav) .22 was a converted-to-metal Cooey 64. Had it almost 25 years now. It wasn't always my fav. Started out hating it! One i found the ammo it likes and, the "run it dry" secret, it's been loved ever since.

...now a Savage Stainless 64 is on the way. It's a kick I'm on...trying rifles younger than me! I've owned a few of these and, enjoyed them all.
