Has any one ever seen a 93 in 22 hornet in Canada i ask here because it is there rimfire action. I heard there were a few made in 22 hornet but was wondering if any made it to Canada.

Can't see it existing. 93 is a rimfire action and a relatively lightly built one at that.

.22 Hornet is a centerfire cartridge and I would expect the Hornet to churn up a few more psi's than a rimfire.

Ruger may be able to pull this off but not Savage.

If it was available in a 93 action they would have probably used the same action for the 17 WSM which they designed a whole new gun for.

I don't believe that the 93 was ever made in Hornet... the light action Model 25 is made in .22 Hornet though.

I agree. Interesting question though, as I've considered a 25 in 22 Hornet on a few occasions, and couldn't cozy-up to the idea simply because it looked like a glorified, over-priced 93. Still the most affordable way to get into a modern 22 Hornet bolt action though.

It has been made i have seen a few for sale over the years on gun broker but not many. I was woundering if any made it to Canada. About 10 000 of these were made.

Just for reference

Maximum Pressure Recommended By#SAAMI

22 RF##Short - 21,000
22 RF Long & LR - 24,000
22WRF - 19,000
WRM - 24,000
25 Auto - 25,000
22 Hornet - 25,000 CUP#
not SAAMI info
17 HMR - 26,000
17 WSM - 33,000

Well that isn't good. Now I need to start looking for one of these. I love picking up oddball guns you don't see often. Didn't even know these existed. Seeing the CUP pressures I see why they didn't use the same action for the 17 WSM.

Ruger makes their 77/22 Hornet on a rimfire action.

Pretty crazy that the Hornet is very close to the Long Rifle for pressures, I would not have thought that at all.

There is a bit of a difference between pressure and force. High pressure over a small area (head of a 22) creates a small force (push). A lower pressure over a very large area can create substantially more force on the bolt.

Also, just to update, the 22 Hornet is no longer 25,000 CUP. The "modern" version has SAAMI maximum average pressure (MAP) of 49,000 PSI (not CUP)

I like my model 25, 60degree bolt lift is nice, and feels like a real solid rifle.
Wish I had a bull barrel 93 in a similar stock to compare to, but all I can compare to is a stevens 305 trapper, which is kind of a unfair comparison.
And I never noticed the similarity till now. Dang.
