I've pretty much made my mind up on a Tasco Varmit 6-24x42mm.
Just wondering if anyone else is running this rifle/scope combo, and if so how do ya like it???
I've heard stories of guys not having enough elevation with certain scopes on this rifle.

Any Thoughts???
Thanks:wave:

I'm not a fan of cheap glass. IMHO don't get it. Buy something like a Vortex Diamondback. I have a 4-12x40 on mine and wish I would have gotten something with a bit higher magnification but it seems you wish to do that anyway. I consider Tasco a cheap scope. Vortex is a quality product backed up by a lifetime warranty. Remember: only the rich can afford to buy cheap items (read not high quality).

PS: Probably the best place for this is neither here nor in the main rifle forum but in the optics forum. You can ask a mod to move it.

a new tasco 6-24 will set you back around $130. If you watch the EE, you can get a quality scope for around $200. I recently found a vortex diamondback 4-12 for 150 shipped.
The cheap scopes like that tasco will only handle light recoil, which will limit it's usefulness if you want to change it out.
Anyway, I suggest you watch for a good deal on a better used scope, like redfield, bushnell 3200, 4200, vortex diamondback, etc. It might cost you an extra $50-100, but you won't be sorry 5 years from now, because it will still be working for you.

i also have the 6.5-20 sightron, and love it. but it's over $600. however, the 17HMR is a tiny hole with a long reach, so high mag is needed and good quality high mag costs $$$.

I was also thinking about a Barska 6.5-20x50mm...had one before and really liked it for the $ spent.
$300 or more is out of the question right now...down the road maybe, but not now!!

I have a Sweet 17 on mine, and it works good. The BDC works fairly well out to 300 yards. Could use a little more magnification, though it is enough for prairie dogs out to about 250 (barely).

I wounldn't advise buying one .I have brand new one here that needs to be sent back to be fixed.the eye piece lock ring was pooched right out of the box.it came from Le Baron with the bench bags.at least the bench bags are of some use.

Ya can get a bad one pal no matter what you buy...just a thought.;)

I have a 93R17, basically the low end version of the 17HMR series with exactly that Tasco on it. It is a big, heavy scope. It works fine for what I use it for - bench shooting at 100 - 200 yards. And that's with 60 year old eyes. :p Can you do better for more $$$, obviously but if you want to keep your costs down it'll do fine. Try the scope and if it doesn't work for you, sell it and upgrade.
I just bought a 9317BTVS like yours ( I'm a lefty and wanted a nicer rifle for the bench shooting ) and have put a Bushnell Dusk to Dawn on it at about $200 for the scope. Again, could've spent a lot more but it works for me.
I have Tasco, Bushnell, Weaver, Leupold, Cabellas and other scopes. They all do the jobs they were intended to do.

you get what u pay for... I use a 3x9 fullfeild II that I took off my 7mm and it works fine, I find that the coyotes seldom care which scope you use...
