Savage 93R17 scope rings, help please.

I'm looking to scope a Savage 93r17 (sporter barrel), and I'm wondering what ring height I will need.

I'm looking to mount a Tasco Varmint scope that has a 42mm objective lens. The only info I can find says that medium rings will work with a 40mm and high rings will work for 50mm. The Tasco (42mm) also has an adjustable lens (not sure if it makes it even wider than a regular 42mm).

Can anyone with a scoped Savage help me out? What ring/scope combo do you have on your rig? Any extra space between the barrel and scope?

Thanks for your suggestion. I went to rimfire central, they have a few stickies regarding both bases and rings for Savage rimfires. I ended up ordering a new set of weaver bases that are a little taller than the savage bases and a pair of medium leupold rifleman rings. I'll let you know if it works.
